A Sunny Day

A Sunny Day, developed by Yan (2011), is a free app that was studied on young children. Children can select a player, and help the player achieve tasks such as getting up, brushing teeth, eating, bathing, and going to sleep. These games are determined by the time of day, which include daytime, school time, and night time. During school time, there are two or more games which stimulate the child’s sense of perception, shapes, concentration, and other abilities. Voice assistance is also available to aid the player with tasks and help with communication skills.

A usability study of the game showed that the game should be played as an individual learning tool, as the participation of a parent can cause confusion and uncertainty in the child. The game itself provides minimal emotional and visual stimuli to avoid overwhelming the child. The study itself was not very well described, which resulted in our evidence-grading tool giving it a strength rating score of 1.
